First and foremost, this album is a collaboration between great friends and long-time collaborators Roan Bateman (Dark Bird/Familiar Fiends) and Paul Copoc (Two Year Toque/Familiar Fiends/Baba Yaga). Some of their favourite long-time collaborators, Jackie & Ryan Stanley (Cursed Arrows, Bardos), John Brownell (Oblio Joes/Protest Kids), and Eiyn Sof add their voices to the mix.
Second, this album journeys through a dark place; one we'd typically rather not venture to. Our protagonist is haunted by demons of depression, thoughts of suicide, and regularly questions the value of their own life. Amidst the darkness though, there is a voice - a voice of love. Love calls out with an invitation, to come in and be enveloped in Agape and Philia. Will the power of love win? Or will our character succumb to their inner suffering?
Finally, this album is an act of radical self-love. We chose to sing about our thoughts of suicide instead of committing it. The stigma of mental health must be lifted. We all suffer through these thoughts and feelings in our way, and here at Snail Space, we believe in the healing power of music. We hope this album can help you the same way it helped us to make it.
